INES – Institute of Sustainable Energy Systems
The Institute of Sustainable Energy Systems (INES) combines research and development activities on various technologies related to the climate-neutral generation, conversion, storage and use of energy. Twelve professors and their staff, around a third of whom doctoral candidates, are involved in close to 30 R&D projects in energy systems technology, including topics in battery technology, electric mobility, energy management, building energy technology, photovoltaic technology, smart grids, biochar and hydrogen technology. They have in common a focus on measures which advance energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies. Details can be found in the individual research group pages.
In teaching, we are particularly involved in the Bachelor's degree programs Nachhaltige Energiesysteme (NES) and Mechatronik und Autonome Systeme (MKA), the international Master's programs Renewable Energy and Data Engineering (RED) and Sustainable Business Development (SBD), and the Master's program Mechatronik und Robotik (MMR).
INES is located at the Regional Innovation Center of Energy Technology (RIZ Energie) on Offenburg University's main campus.
